Prescription Pads

MD-DO Supervisory Agreement

MATE Training Letter
On December 29, 2022, the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2023 enacted a new one-time, eight-hour training requirement for all Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)-registered practitioners on the treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Information for Pharmacists
NDs are independently allowed to prescribe, furnish, order or administer all synthetic and natural hormones, as well as epinephrine.
E-Prescribing Mandate
Beginning January 1, 2022, all prescriptions issued by a licensed healthcare practitioner to a California pharmacy must be submitted electronically.
(May 2023) DEA Issues Temporary Rule
As a follow up to my email sent last month regarding changes to the federal rules regarding prescribing controlled substances via telemedicine, earlier this week, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) released a temporary rule titled “Temporary Extension of COVID-19 Telemedicine Flexibilities for Prescription of Controlled Medications”.
