Naturopathic Webinar 62
with Lana Ferris, ND
NW62: Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and Eating Disorders
Join us for an informative webinar exploring the intersection between Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) and eating disorders. We’ll begin with an overview of MCAS prevalence and demographics, alongside a discussion of eating disorder statistics, highlighting potential overlaps. The webinar will cover diagnostic processes and screening tools for both MCAS and eating disorders, including primary care screenings and specific diagnostic criteria for anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, ARFID, and orthorexia. Participants will learn about the latest treatments for MCAS, including naturopathic options such as quercetin, nettle, LDN, and homeopathic remedies, alongside pharmaceutical treatments like cromolyn sodium, antihistamines (both H1 and H2), montelukast, and others. Additionally, we’ll delve into dietary and lifestyle changes that can support MCAS treatment and consider how addressing MCAS can contribute to eating disorder recovery. To ensure comprehensive support, we’ll discuss referrals to therapy, medical monitoring, and higher levels of care. This webinar will conclude with a summary of the relationship between MCAS and eating disorders and strategies to support recovery in both areas.
